A Carpe Diem Snapshot:


This is a "Carpe Son" moment, captured yesterday evening at the Basilica of San Pancrazio-- my Joseph lighting a candle in front of his namesake, St. Joseph. At 16, Joseph has already become rather busy and independent in both his studies and work (for VivaRoma Tours), so it was indeed a seized opportunity to share a quick prayer with him.


Liturgical: Monday of the Third Week of Easter So they said to him, “What can we do to accomplish the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”

Human: 55 BCPtolemy Neos Dionysos, after overthrowing (thanks to Roman intervention) his daughter Berenice IV, took over power in Egypt. The army under the command of the Syrian proconsul, Aulus Gabinius (who received 10 000 talents from Ptolemy) defeated Archelaus – Berenice’s husband – who died in a battle and took Egypt over. Ptolemy sat on the throne again, and his first step in the second period of his reign was the assassination of Berenice and her supporters.
