Calendar Class of April 18, 2024

A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

Have you ever noticed how vibrant all the colors of nature appear after a rainstorm? Or the variety of shapes and colors in the rapidly shifting cloud formations? Or the rich smell of rain mixed with wet earth and the creepy crawlies that emerge from the soil during the storm? It all happened at once before sunset tonight, just after I arrived home drenched from an ill-timed walk in the park. There's something particularly magical, fresh, and fruitful about a sudden downpour in the month of April. As I learned in kindergarten, "April showers bring May flowers."

Liturgical: Thursday of the Third Week of Easter Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, that is, the queen of the Ethiopians,

in charge of her entire treasury, who had come to Jerusalem to worship, and was returning home. Seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.

Sanctoral: Blessed Marie-Anne Blondin (1809-1890), the foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Anne

Human: Death of Albert Einstein (at age 75) and what became of his famous brain – 1955; Birth of Emperor Gratian --359 in Serbia. Gratian favoured Nicene Christianity, issuing the Edict of Thessalonica, refusing the office of pontifex maximus, and removing the Altar of Victory from the Roman Senate's Curia Julia.

Here's an interesting article on how "cloud-seeding" did not cause the flooding recently experienced on the Arabian peninsula.

Quote: “Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.” -Albert Einstein
