A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

Cordelia's insatiable appetite provided this Carpe Diem moment this morning! The villa's kitchen is covered in drywall dust and cement at present, but the child must be fed, so off to the closest cafe it was. She brought along her bag of coins hoping to pay herself, only to discover that they were all foreign coins that predated the euro! This is possibly one of my favorite spontaneous portraits of this colorful character to date, reminiscent of these other cosmopolitan little girls of literary fame, Madeline of Paris and Eloise of the Plaza.

Quote: "People exist for one another. You can instruct or endure them."

Sanctoral: Zita of Lucca (1218-1272), patron of homemakers; Simeon of Jerusalem (d. 107) is also commemorated today. He was the second bishop of Jerusalem (after St. James the Apostle), and died a martyr under the Emperor Trajan.

Human: Divine Mercy Sunday 2014- Popes John Paul II and John XXIII were canonized by Pope Francis with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in attendance

Natural: What we know- so far- about the life of the human brain from life to death. As part of our Spring studies we are learning about the "springtime of life" and how quickly the brain grows during this season. Two of the most important intellectual pursuits in childhood are music and foreign languages, through interactive and enjoyable methodologies such as singing, dancing, and games.

Liturgical: Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter; Our Lady of Montserrat (Catalonia, Spain)

"The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works."
