Today's Carpe Diem Snapshot: This semester I have the privilege of introducing the Art and Architecture of Rome to this fun group of students from Ave Maria University in Florida. During today's class we posed with their banner at the Piazzale Aurelio, where they studied then shared their interpretations of the genius loci of this space that encapsulates all the major ages of Rome's history-- from the building of the Servian wall (now the Aurelian wall) in the 4th century BC to the Porta Pancrazio in the 6th century AD to the Museo della Republica Romana in 1976.
