Human: 250 AD – Emperor Trajan Decius began mass persecution of the Christians. Pope Fabian himself died a martyr. The persecution was one of the bloodiest in the history of ancient Rome and for the first time covered the territory of the whole empire. In the opinion of contemporary people, Trajan Decius was considered to be an energetic ruler and the incarnation of ancient Roman virtues. Decius was the last Roman Emperor who used the title of King of Lower and Upper Egypt.
