A Carpe Diem Snapshot:


The honor of being the Grand Marshal of the Independence Day Parade of

the village of Mecosta was bestowed upon my mother this year. My great-aunt Fay Jewel held that title at the ripe old age of 90, so my Mom was happy that she didn't have to wait that long. From my perspective and memory, it was the largest parade the village has had thus far, with lots of fun floats and live bands. Afterwards, we all congregated at that sweet hub of village social life, the Coffee and Cream Cafe. Tonight, the streets of Mecosta will experience their once annual traffic jam when the village is flooded with fireworks gawkers from both near and far. It's the one day of the year that the village really comes to life and is a cherished local tradition. (Photos and videos on IG)
