Calendar Class of June 1, 2024

A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

Meteorologically speaking, today is the first day of summer! And summer on the lake means a lot of visitors and non-stop action, as you can see in the photo just taken a moment ago. The two little structures in the foreground were put up only today by a crew of young Amish builders, who could easily transition to acrobats and trapeze artists with the kind of nimble strength their lifestyle has given them. Working on the lake means having their labors rewarded by ending the day fishing and riding in paddleboats and kayaks, and possibly going home with a bucket full of fish, a most appropriate way to begin June, the month of fishing!

Build yourselves up in your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Sanctoral: Justin, Apologist and Martyr (c. 100-165), Palestine. Known as "the philosopher" who delivered an apology of the faith before emperors Antoninus and Marcus Aurelius.

Human: Welcome to the month of June and the adventurous season of summer!

Also, today is "say something nice day" in case you needed a reminder...

Natural: On June 1, after sunset, a gorgeous three-way conjunction of Saturn, Mars, and the crescent Moon occurs. See Bob’s June Sky Watch.

Quote: Ah, happy day, refuse to go! Hang in the heavens forever so! Forever in midafternoon, Ah, happy day of happy June!
