A Carpe Diem Snapshot:
Carpe cod! Valentina made an experimental marinade for cod and salmon fillets last night (the salmon fared better). While not a big fish fan, being born and bred in Michigan, I have tried my share of the squishy stuff. My daughters enjoy the whole process of catching, gutting, and preparing fish more than actually consuming it. As for me, I just like the whole aesthetic of the fishing life, especially fly fishing in the wilderness, more than the sport itself. Here is a charming example of a traditional Great Lakes fishing community that I will take the girls to later this month: Fishtown!
Liturgical: Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
R. Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.
They multiply their sorrows

Blood libations to them I will not pour out,
nor will I take their names upon my lips.

Quote:
“So live, that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan which moves
To that mysterious realm where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon; but, sustain'd and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams."
