Calendar Class of June 20, 2024

A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

Although I didn't plan it, today I was lucky enough to catch both the summer solstice sunrise and sunset over the lake, as well as this beautiful view of the rising of the 99% full strawberry moon of June. The camera just couldn't capture its rosy glow, so large and low when it was near the horizon.

Liturgical: Thursday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

“If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”

Bishop Barron's Gospel reflections today.

Sanctoral: St. John Matera, Abbot; Bl. Margareta Ebner, Virgin; St. Paulinus of Nola

Human: The summer "age stage of life" begins-- ages 26-50, the "missionary" years of a human being's life, when they are fully grown and flourishing, living out their vocation in the world and earning their living through toil.

Natural: It's officially summertime! Summer Solstice 2024

Italian Word of the Day: Cetriolo (cucumber)

Quote: "The beauty of that June day was almost staggering. After the wet spring, everything that could turn green had outdone itself in greenness and everything that could even dream of blooming or blossoming was in bloom and blossom. The sunlight was a benediction. The breezes were so caressingly soft and intimate on the skin as to be embarrassing."
