A Carpe Diem Snapshot: "Wake up from the dream and realize the life." This is one of my favorite graffiti quotes that I've encountered in Rome. Although Rome's abundant graffiti is an eye-sore, it can sometimes be quite poetic and thought-provoking. This could be translated and interpreted in a few different ways. How would you say it, and how it speak does it speak to you?
Liturgical: Friday of the Second Week of Lent "...the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit."
Station church: San Vitale
Sanctoral: St. David (542-601), Bishop and patron of Wales
Human: All about March! Named in honor of Mars, the Roman god of war, because the legions would resume military campaigns this month, after the cold winter months had past. It was originally the first month of the year- Happy New Year!
Natural: March full moon- the "Worm" moon on March 25; March flower: daffodil or jonquil; March birthstone: aquamarine
Quote:
I Martius am! Once first, and now third!
To lead the Year was my appointed place;
A mortal dispossessed me by a word,
And set there Janus with the double face.
–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, American poet (1807–82)
