A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

I discovered this small church of Santa Marina just now, even though I had once lived in this town long ago. It gave me the opportunity to recall the incredible story of the Lebanese saint who gave the diminutive form of her name to this sea-side town. As it happens, today is also the feast day of another brave female saint, Rafqa. Sts. Rafqa and Marina, pray for us!

Liturgical: Saturday of the Fifth Week of Lent So Jesus no longer walked about in public among the Jews, but he left for the region near the desert, to a town called Ephraim, and there he remained with his disciples.

Human: Ancient Rome-- the Tubilustrium festival took place today, which was celebrated twice a year. The ceremony of the day was devoted to Mars and it was about the purification of the holy war trumpets, which would bring victories in battles for the Roman legions.

Natural: in season now- plums, oranges, strawberries

Quote: "I am not afraid of death for which I have waited for a long time. God will let me live through my death.”

--St Rafqa Pietra Choboq Ar-Rayès (1832 – 1914
