A Carpe Diem Snapshot:

For yesterday's Minor Feast of September, Valentina made a pumpkin spice cake in our sun/moon mold, which is a bit hard to make out in the photo. She is to be particularly commended for her artistic arrangement of parchment paper Fall leaves and goldenrod. The recipe is her own but here is a substitute.

"When I came to you, brothers and sisters, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling, and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God." --1 COR 2:1-5

Gospel reflections by Bishop Barron today.

Sanctoral: The Roman Martyrology commemorates St. Agricola (also known as Agricolus) (625-700), son of St. Magnus and bishop of Avignon, France. He built a church in Avignon to be served by the monks of Lerins and also a convent for Benedictine nuns. By his blessing, he put an end to an invasion of storks.

Human: Today is Labor Day in the U.S.! Here's an article from a Catholic perspective and here is holiday info from Old Farmer's Almanac.
